Dear Pe-o-ple Magazine,
I just wanted to send you a quick thank you note for letting me know that sometimes celebrities don't wear makeup. This whole time, I thought that when they were finished posing for the camera they just climbed back into their Barbie box before they eventually wound down.
Idiots.
Sincerely,
The Student Who Wishes You Would Do a Story On Her, Since You're Obviously Running Low on Material

So it's finally happened. My bestie and inspiration for craziness has finally realized that I am severely disturbed and probably equally undermedicated. I don't know why. All I did was tell her about my latest dream. I don't know why she freaked out.
I'm at the point in my night life now where I realize that I am dreaming and just decide to have fun. I can fly all over the world, move stuff with my eyes, and smooch a still very much alive Heath Ledger. I obviously enjoy dreaming, but every now and then a nasty ol' nightmare will slip in and ru'rn my life.
Night before last, I had the first non-lucid dream that I've had in a really long time. In my dream, I was watching these freaking idiots kayak in the middle of the Perfect Storm. Naturally, their kayaks all flipped over leaving me creeping about in the sky, praying that I wouldn't have to rescue them because I am absolutely terrified of drowning.
Well, I had to. Jerks and their inability to survive underwater....
I was swimming in the ocean trying to save some of these morons when about 200 of these appeared

Scary. Super scary. Times 200. I'm not exaggerating about the teeth. On the contrary, there were more than that. Luckily, as one was about to introduce me to Steve Irwin, I remembered that I COULD fly and pulled lots of dumb deep sea kayakers to safety.
Part of me wishes that I could say that was the end of the dream. But no. This was one of those dreams that I could not wake up from.
The next thing I knew, I was sitting with a man that I rescued that was apparently my husband. As we were snuggling, I noticed with my X-Ray vision that he was moving in a freakishly similar way to the giant Robot Sharks. I suggested that we go see a doctor who, unfortunately confirmed my fears. My husband was bitten by, and was slowly turning into, a giant, radioactive robot shark.
Obviously, I was devastated. I'm pretty sure that the man in my dreams was attractive. I know I was madly in love with him because I crawled to meet Sheldon Cooper so that we could keep him from turning into a monster.
It worked. Only except for that he didn't know who I was. I used all my chips with stupid Sheldon and he wasn't up for building a time machine to take me back to the point before the love of my life was turned into a freaking zombie of the ocean.
I'm still a little upset about it, actually.

Who Let the Crazy Out?

If you're my mom, know my mom, or have children of your own, you probably shouldn't read this post. Don't say I didn't warn you.
I don't advise this to anyone in the entire world. Chasing people down the highway because they cut you off and were rude is against like 50 laws.
Yesterday I turned on a non-interstate highway from a little country road on a mission to get food. As a responsible driver, I put my phone down, stopped facebooking, and looked both ways before I turned left onto the four-lane highway. To my right, a pickup truck was coming, but he was far enough away for me to make the turn and get out of his way without either of us dying.
And then he had to pull a redneck.
I turned onto the highway and looked in my rearview mirror and this hillbilly moron was in my backseat. The ONLY way he could've done that was to floor it. I won't even mention that if he had wanted to speed up like an a-hole, he could've gotten in the other lane.
But he didn't. Without thinking that he did it out of pure spite, I got over into the far lane so that he could pass me. I signaled and everything, continuing to be a responsible grownup.
And then he had to pull a redneck.
This *insert line of expletives here* sped up, got in front of me, and slammed. on. his. breaks. I hit the horn and signaled to him that I was not pleased with his actions, to which he returned the favor because it was my fault that he had to act like a butthole.
And then, I pulled a crazy.
He thought he was going to play a little trick for his little girlfriend so she would know how cool he was before speeding away. He didn't realize he had screwed with a certifiably insane woman with little to no purpose. So I tailed him. We may or may not have almost hit the triple digits. If he moved, I moved.
I snapped out of it for a minute and realized that I was breaking about 60 laws to bully a 17 year old redneck kid with a compensation problem out for a hell-ride. I finally got over and passed him, continuing on my journey for food.
I wasn't satisfied.
I slowed down to a crawl, eyeing him in my rearview mirror....just like the serial killers do on television and Craigslist. Finally, he floored it again and made a feeble attempt to get away from me and my equally crazy VW. I chased him again. Fretful looks from the side mirrors proved that my mission to stop a road-bully was a success.
But, this is a story about how crazy defeats redneck...and how I bet you my car that that boy will not ever do that again.

From 'Titus' to 'Christmas'...

We closed Titus Andronicus last weekend, and I cannot say how proud I am of the production! We took some musings we had about the show this summer and created a company that produced a great show that audiences had GREAT reactions to. We never officially "sold out" however, we did fill the house every night. I looked around as we were warming up and saw all the people I know and all the people I have recently befriended doing this show together and I was just beaming with pride. As I have said, I am very proud of my Lavinia; I worked very hard on the role, and had so much fun performing every night. There was a great deal of challenges with the production, and a lot of things that we learned to help us as a company. I cannot wait to discuss where we want to go next. We have a couple of ideas....but I'll share that when we know what we are doing!
Moving on! After a mere five days off, I began rehearsals for a WONDERFUL production of A Christmas Carol with The Hanover Theater! I got cast back in September as "Belle," Ebenezer Scrooge's once-fiancee. (EEEE!) It is a professional contract (I get some Equity points) and it pays (always nice to get paid for the work you love!) It's amazing. We started rehearsals yesterday and so far, wonderful. The show is based on the timeless classic book by Charles Dickens, and no matter what, always moves me.
After the first read through last night, the adult cast (we have a lot of child actors; Tiny Tim, Ghost of Christmas Past, etc) we had an in depth discussion about the show and about the story that we are meaning to tell, and how important it is. The things that really stuck out to me were the following: The reasons why we as the people of London, need to re-tell the story of Scrooge. How it saved him and how it refocuses our energies to what is most important in this world; Love. The fact that, for a 'Christmas' story, it rarely has religious references focusing us on the Humanity of it.
I can't wait to start digging deeper into the character of Belle. She is one of the only people that Scrooge has ever outwardly loved and he loses her because he loses himself. So far, we've only read through and worked on some music and choreography. I've got to get to work on my British accent, but I'll be back soon with more on Belle, and more on our process! In the meantime, fun weird fact I just found out, the beautiful and extremely talented actress who played Lavinia in Julie Taymour's Titus (1999 version of Shakespeare's play), Laura Fraser played my character (Belle) in the 1999 Christmas Carol directed by David Hugh Jones!!! Although she first played Belle and then Lavinia...weird weirdness.

Oh and we need to get back to Hamlet. It's been, what, twenty one posts since my last Hamlet post?
Come on.
Best,
Micah

flipping through february's in style magazine, i found a feature on spices. it included a recipe from chef yotam ottolenghi (ironically my friend made his tofu & brussels sprouts this past weekend, which was amazing). below is my tweaked version of his avocado, fava & quinoa salad. i ate it for lunch and it was easy, filling and delicious!
* cook 1 cup quinoa, set aside* microwave 1 lb frozen edamame (shelled), set aside* in a large bowl, mix juice of 2 lemons and 2 thinly sliced avocado* add quinoa, edamame, 2 minced garlic cloves, a handful of chopped basil, a handful of sliced radishes (my grocer did not have them today), 1 tbsp cumin, 1/4 tsp red pepper chili flakes, drizzle of olive oil, s&p to taste.* toss gently and serve

restaurant design

through my m+m (mangia & mingle) posts, i highlight the design of establishments (mostly local to southern california), and include a fair amount of restaurants (also capturing their cuisine). design can set the tone, draw the crowd, and echo the essence of the food served within. it's fascinating all the elements that go into planning the interior space, as it'll inevitably provide the first impression to customers long before they are served a meal or take a sip of their drink.
this thursday, the AIGA idea series presents restaurant design at the neurosciences institute in la jolla (10640 john hay hopkins drive) from 5:30-8:30pm. featuring three local restaurant designers (micheal soriano from onairos design, paul basile of basile studio and barbara rourke from bells & whistles), they will present recent projects and hold a moderated speaking panel. but before the panel begins, they will have a "chef-off" and "mix-off" between local restaurants so that everyone can experience the branding that they achieve to establish. it should be a great night of discussion and perspective!

if you're ever looking for a good hike not to far from san diego, head out to poway (about a 30 minute drive from downtown) and hike up mt.woodson. overlooking lake poway this approximately 7 mile trail (from the parking lot at lake poway) is a great workout, with a slow steady incline in a beautiful setting of trees, boulders and desert shrub. recommend starting out early in the morning, as the temperature definitely rises during the day!

before heading to the airport, i decided to explore the LoHi neighborhood in denver. previously i had enjoyed drinks at linger and a delicious dinner at root down (both which i highly recommend). but i hadn't seen the area during the day. for those familiar with san diego, it felt a bit like the east village. a boom in redevelopment brought in fresh establishments and renovation. an artistic vibe is evident through galleries and graffiti (i have a soft spot for graffiti). and with the addition of the pedestrian bridge, getting to downtown is very easy by foot or bike.

i decided to take a stroll from the marina to AT&T park to watch the giants play the dodgers. it was a 4 mile walk, which isn't bad at all on a nice san francisco day (although my fancy sandals may have been a bad choice in footwear). walking along the embarcadero i was amazed to see how much space was left unused on the piers. although, i have no idea what the city has planned or what absurd zoning regulations may exist for such a space. i did appreciate the extensive public art, which frankly is around much of the city. always a supporter of the arts, public pieces are mutually beneficial to both the artist and the greater population, making a space that much more aesthetically pleasing.

What a week here! Lj has been doing pretty good actually. He has his moments of rumination and small bouts of depression, but otherwise pretty good. He is swimming on his own, with the use of armies, but swimming all the same and we are so proud of him! This weekend we were to attend an overnite ASD camp, but after a few week of strong ruminations about the stay, I emailed them and declined. I feel bad, but I just couldn't put him through that any more, and he has been a lot happier knowing he didn't have to go.
Earlier in the week I received a comment from someone on my personal page about my son. I posted that I was strong for not punching a PT for telling my son he was bad while he was having a meltdown and someone commented that "he is a brat, and his meltdowns are bullshit!" (sorry, for lack of a better word, I am quoting the comment).
I went off. First of all, he is my son, and NO ONE talks about him like that except for myself and his father! Secondly, unless you know about Autism, and have seen a melt down first hand, how the hell do you know?!?! This person has witnessed my son in a store throwing a fit over not getting a toy. Yes, bad behavior, HOWEVER, this was the day my son fell into the street, screaming and crying over the noises, this person saw us right after that. Sooooo, when my post read that Liam had a meltdown that day, THATS what I was referring too.
I know I have nothing to justify to this person. It just burns my ass to hear how someone who has NO idea what MY life is like, say things like that. It was also stated that I baby my son, shelter him, oh and I want attention. Well, I may baby him a bit, he is my only child. I would like to see someone have 7 miscarriages, and NOT baby the miracle they are finally given. As far as sheltering him, we live in a trailer park. Do you know how many kids he plays with on a daily basis? 3-4 on average, some days up to 7 or more. As far as me wanting attention, couldn't be further from the truth. My blog was started so I could vent without annoying the pants off my hubby. A Legion for Liam was started so I could educate others, share my story, and be a part of the best damn circle ever. The autism parents circle! (yeah we ROCK!!!)
Though my guess is this person will never understand where they were wrong. And yes, I know everyone is entitled to their own opinions. After all, opinions are like assholes, everyone has got one. But like an asshole, they should be kept to yourself. Unless of course you are asked to share. By that, I meant the opinion :)
The only other thing I have to say, is I hope Karma is not pissed by this person's actions. She has a way of sneaking up on someone and biting one in the ass when they least expect it. Karma is a b!tch!!!
I made this pic in honor of my week:

To liven this blog up, here is a video taken by a friend, of Liam doing his dance. I call it his happy dance :)

On that that note, here are my lovely Ryan's for the week. Enjoy!

Happy Friday to you all. May you all have a wonderful, drama free weekend! And make some time to do a Happy Dance ;)<3<3<3<3

Wow! I know I complained all winter I couldn't wait for summer, but wow!!!!! It has been killer hot here. Unless we are swimming somewhere, we don't go outside until at least 6 pm. Liam and I both have asthma, and its so hard to breathe in this humid heat. I can't complain though, I will take this over a foot of snow any day!!!!
Just realized "outside" is missing the "e" lol
Our week has been pretty good. The Fourth was fun. Liam did pretty well. He only took one sensory break in the car, and was able to return to sit on my lap for the fireworks. He spent more time hanging with adults, than playing with the kiddos, typical for Liam though. He is my old sole.
Liam taking his "break" in the car :)
"happy 4th of July, now leave me alone!"
The school meeting was postponed. Liam has been ruminating alot regarding school. So much so that hubs called his Mobile Therapist yesterday and had her come out. She tried like hell to get him to open up. All he would say is, "I don't want to go to school! Too many people! Too loud, too stinky, I am done talking, thats it!" WELL!!!! She thinks we need to consider cyber charter school, as he may not be emotionally ready. I kinda figured that, but hubs really wants him mainstreamed. I understand, but I am not one to push. So I guess I will start doing some research on cyber schools.
Next week is our trip to CAR in Philly. Got a massive amount of paperwork in the mail yesterday. I have to fill out the VABS and BRIEF questionnaires before we go. UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so sick of paperwork, lol. Its for a good cause though. Not only will we be helping research into autism, genetics and social skills, but we will get all the info from the visit for our records. Complete with more recommendations for how to further help Liam. Win win to me!
I also got an AUSOME email. Lisanne from Rockin' & Ridin' for Autism contacted me about purchasing some Autism paracord bracelets for their non profit group. I was stoked!!! She ordered 10! I have gotten a lot of requests for them as well. Hubs and I are looking into making a bunch, so we can sell them either on our facebook page, or maybe even start and Etsy account. This is great because after we pay for the supplies, the over head can be used to buy Liam therapy items. Another win win for us!
Thats it, our week in a nutshell. Nothing impressive :) So without further ado, here are my Ryan's.
Can this be a spectator sport????
GAH!!! I belong BEHIND the camera Ryan, NOT in FRONT of it :D
Happy Friday everyone! Make it a great day and great weekend! Stay cool!!!!<3<3<3<3

Our week has been pretty good. The Fourth was fun. Liam did pretty well. He only took one sensory break in the car, and was able to return to sit on my lap for the fireworks. He spent more time hanging with adults, than playing with the kiddos, typical for Liam though. He is my old sole.

Happy Friday everyone! Make it a great day and great weekend! Stay cool!!!!<3<3<3<3

Slowly and surely the nursery is coming alongIt has been so much fun making her little space in our houseSometimes me and Ryan just like to be in there- talking about stuff- getting her little room readyKnowing that soon she is going to sleep in there
These pictures are little old butI still have one more project to finish before I share the finished room but wait till you see her closet...it is the cutestWhat else are Saturday nights at midnight for besides sorting baby clothes???

The vintage rocker was a present from my mom and dadit belonged to my great grandmotherand my grandpa re-cained it It's my favorite thing in the room
The other things are just odds and ends A cupcake that makes the room smell like a baby,Kittens and stuffed animals because no little girls room is complete without those items
It all stays in the room but some things have found a new home Ryan likes to go in and rearrange and sometimes I allow itcause he says"it's my baby too"
Fine.Move the kitten then...
I am sooo excited to share the finished results with you!!!!!!!

In the last month I've...
Finally been able to wear cute shoes again!!!
Actually wanted to wear something besides sweatpants...
Watched more t.v. then I thought was humanly possible but when you are the only source of food for your baby you watch a lot of Love it or List it...
Spent another night in the hospital- turns out Charlie has acid reflux and apnea- scary at first but hoping the medicine will give her some relief...
Started cooking again and by cooking I mean actually preparing meals from real food and not making hamburger helper or other boxed dinners every night of the week...
Wonder how moms ever fold laundry- I can get it washed but folded and put away seems to be impossible...
Gone to a coupon class (first hour and a half I spent away from Charlie) actually learned a lot...
Realized how sexy it is to watch your husband soothing your baby who is hurting from gas and acid reflux- seeing him growing into his role as daddy- makes me realize how important it is when you are choosing the father of your children...
Got Charlie her Easter outfit- I am not doing an Easter basket this year- don't judge me she's only a month old what am I suppose to put in there? Breast milk from the Easter Bunny?!? I feel like that would be a little weird. So we are just skipping that part but we are gonna get her a stuffed bunny or a duck. When I was little I got a duck for Easter. His name was Chester and I loved him for years. Charlie might need a Chester too...
Haven't eaten a Rice Krispie Treat since I was pregnant- thank goodness I was starting to worry about that addiction...
Back to regular blogging next week. Thanks for being patient during this adjustment period and I promise not to post only about baby stuff!!! I am hoping to be doing some new things around the blog. So keep stopping by this little corner of the world and see what changes this new season of life brings...

This picture may not be pretty but it is pretty yummy...
So a couple weeks ago me and Charlie hit the road. I mustered up all my gumption and took Charlie almost 7 hours in the car {with my mom and sister of course- not alone! Do you think I am crazy?!}to Kansas City to visit family. Out of the 14+ hours we spent in the car- she only cried for 10 minutes. It was a dream.
While we were there my cousin made the most delicious BBQ Chicken Nachos. I knew this would be a recipe that I was gonna have to make a regularat our house.
How to make: Jaci's Delicious BBQ Chicken Nachos
You will need:
BBQ Sauce2 Chicken breasts {cooked and cut into bite size pieces}Tortilla ChipsGreen OnionCilantroLimeCheese

A Summer Bucket List...
To contact us Click HERE

A SummertimeBucket List
Am loving this trend!!!
This project cost me zero dollarsand really got me excited for the summer days ahead
All you have to do is to make your own is:
-Make a list of fun summer things you would like to do.
-Display them somewhere in your house for a festive summer vibeand inspiration to enjoy the little moments of summer.
I made little cards with the activities listed on back. The small cards are simple, everyday things.
The larger cards are more special things.
Our Summer Bucket List
..........
get ice cream from the Sidney Dairy Bar
blow bubbles
host a family game day
visit a museum
feed the ducks at Crystal Lake Park
buy a baby pool
go to a drive-in movie
go hiking
have a picnic in the park
go to a country fair
see a rodeo
host a dinner party
add an item to our Us Box
go camping
Bring on it on Summer, bring it on...

I joined this Pen Pal Project and you know what?I'm pumped.Like super pumped.
Can I be honest with you? When it comes to maintaining friendshipsit's really hard for me.We have sucha large family and so many obligationsthat alone timeis kind of hard to come byand I need me some alone timeSo I can be flakey sometimesI don't mean to be a flakeI just am I hope that it doesn't come across that I don't carebecause I donow more then ever I carebecauseraising babies is hardand you really need friends, other moms going through the same thing
To talk about worries and fears, that only moms have.To have someone to sit with at the playground withso you don't lose your mind singing that one Barney songover and over and overand overand overagain.
So in the next six monthsI am going to be working on my friendships more...
If you are a reader leave me a commentI would love to get to know you better
If you are a friendthen let's hang out more
If you are far awaylet's keep in touch more.
Let's all make the most of our friendships this summer.
Watch out-cause it's about to get all friendly up in here.
Who knows what can happen when you put a little more effort into the people you care about...
So what do you say?Wanna be my friend?

We are considering building our next home.I know, I know, you are tired of hearing me talk about moving.I know I am tired of talking about me moving. We should just freakin' move already!
But alas, here we are at 906and while our list of projects has dwindled down to one finalthingto do....
What now?Are we going to buy land? Are we going to buy in town or in the country? Are we going to live in a house we buildor a house we remodel? Are we going to list our house with a realtor?
There are so many choicesand we are slow decision makers.Veryveryveryslow.
I think we are driving my father-in-law crazy : )not in a bad wayjust in a hurry up and live closerand in a better school district waywhich we totally intend on doingit's just a matter of when and where.
A matter of when and where...
I am starting to hate when and where.I don't want to think about when.I don't want to think about where.I want to thinkBam.Done.
Right now we are pricing it all outlandfloor plansupgradesAnd figuring out what exactly we want in a home.
So here is our Must Haves
* Eight ft {or higher} ceilings* Ceiling fans in all the bedrooms*White trim and doors*White cabinets*Stainless steel appliances*Walk-in closet and bathroom in master bedroom*Big windows*Island in the kitchen
Here is the Wish List
*Soaker tub in the master bedroom*Big closets in all the rooms*No formal living space*A dining room*laundry room with a sink*Desk area*4th bedroom*Basement*Granite countertops*Attached garage
I am sure both of those lists will growand get smalleras we manage our budgetbut I am excited to see where this processtakes usmore to come on building your own homeat least I hope ; )
What would you have on your want/need lists? Let me know cause I wanna do this right!
